Goodbye 2011!

Well another year has come and gone and what an amazing year it has been with over 65 incredible weddings! When 2011 first started I had no idea how I would get through it but now I’m sitting here wondering why it’s all over! Amazing friendships made, incredible moments captured forever and endless smiles put on clients faces. 2011 has taught me that I am here to stay and that I am a landmark in this business we call the “wedding industry”.

With that said 2012 looks to be another amazing year! With my bookings over 50% sold out already I am excited to “do it all over again!” Next year will also include a visit to St. John’s in the US Virgin Islands for an incredible destination wedding! Also we have received amazing news from The Knot a few weeks ago and I cannot wait to share it with you in early 2012. I got the email at dinner in Orlando, Florida when my wife and I were on vacation and it made her cry. So it must be good! haha.

I want to thank everyone for following this blog and supporting JohnLo Photography. Without you I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s sad to say goodbye to 2011 but I welcome 2012 with open arms! Have yourself an incredible holiday season and party away safely into the new year. It wouldn’t be a photography blog without some pictures now would it? Are you ready for a ton of pictures?! I sure hope so! This was my first Cape Cod wedding of 2011 and it was so amazing that I just had to share a massive amount of pictures with you my dedicated blog followers. Lauren & Dan got married at the GORGEOUS New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee, MA aka Cape Cod! As an avid golfer it was hard enough to keep my car on the road leading up to the country club as the golf course just looked incredible. The happy couple had BEAUTIFUL weather on their most special day and we really spent a lot of time doing formal photographs to take advantage of that. For all you future brides the more time you allow for formals the better the result. This wedding included a breathtaking indoor ceremony, formals by the ocean and golf course and a party that would knock your socks off! Take your time enjoying each and every picture because I sure enjoyed my time taking them! :)

When you gotta go... You gotta go! :)

The only thing that could be better than a Boston wedding on a beautiful sunny day would be a Boston wedding on the top floor of a hotel in Beacon Hill on a beautiful sunny day! Maeghan & Mark are both such wonderful people and that shined through on their most special day! The ceremony and reception both took place at the Holiday Inn in Boston. I started the day with Maeghan in her hotel suite and ended the day on the dance floor of a gorgeous ballroom way up in the clouds :) Maeghan & Mark both live right next to the venue and we were able to get some super awesome photographs on their street and neighborhood. The hotel staff was incredible to work with and I met some really great people that I hope to see again in the near future! Time to pack my bags and head to UK to photograph the Royal Wedding! JK! A photographer can dream can't he? I will be watching it though! Enjoy...

What is not to love about the Hawthorne Hotel? It's one of my favorite places to shoot at! Beautiful location right in the middle of historic Salem, MA and on top of that some of the best wedding staff I've come across! Colleen and William got married on a GORGEOUS and sunny March day. The day began upstairs in one of the hotels fantastic bridal suites and ended in the beautiful ballroom down below with rocking live music from the band Groove Authority (which I highly recommend if you are in the market for a live wedding band!) It was such a fantastic time working with Colleen & William. I am excited for them to see this blog post! Actually I just dropped their CDs in the mail :) Don't you love those fast off season turnaround times?! Wedding season is starting to heat up and this blog will be rocking sooner than you can say "I do!" :) Enjoy!

Jenn & Tim - Engaged!

This could possibly be one of the most fun shoots I've ever done! Jenn & Tim are two of the nicest people you will ever meet! They recently built a new house far away (haha!) in the western area of Massachusetts and I was determined to make the long trip out just to see it!

Boy! was it worth it! 22 acres of land covered in beautiful trees, snow and thankfully walkable paths! I spent a few hours at their property pretty much shooting in every section of it. Jealous of it? Of course! :P I ended up with some really special photographs capturing the couple in their natural environment which I love. I cannot wait for their wedding in October! Thanks so much for being awesome! Enjoy :)

Newborn shoots are such a change of pace for me but I just love doing them! I had the pleasure of shooting Eileen's wedding back in October of 2009 and I couldn't wait to shoot her newborn pictures once I heard she was expecting a new addition to the family! Wyatt could possibly be the most well behaved and cutest baby on the planet! As you can see by his sparkling blue eyes it's obvious that he is going to grow up to be quite the charmer! Enjoy... :)

Happy New Year everybody! I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Ashley & Jonathan on New Year's Eve. The wedding took place at the Holiday Inn on Route 1 in Peabody, MA. Winter weddings can always be a gamble because of coldness/snow but the weather turned out to be gorgeous! Sadly we weren't able to get any outdoor pictures due to darkness but we sure made up for it inside! Everybody was having a blast! I don't think I've ever seen all 200+ guests on the dance floor the entire night! The party even included a hotel evacuation due to a wonderful person smoking in one of the bathrooms! Check out the fireman/firetruck shot below :) When midnight came around the DJ had a live stream of Times Square in NYC projected on the walls for the countdown! My biggest congratulations go out to Ashley & Jonathan! I'm excited for them to see all of their pictures! This was one party to remember :)

You can always count on the groomsmen for great poses and hilarious pictures! :)

One of the coolest bridal parties ever!

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better the firemen came to party! The hotel was evacuated for about 20 minutes. Thank god this happened before the countdown.

Another year?! Gone?! Already?!

What a year it has been for JohnLo Photography. I remember when I started this year I couldn't imagine how I would get through it! 71 weddings! Endless engagement shoots, endless portrait shoots, close to 100 client meetings and approx. 14,000 miles on my car business related! I can't express how happy I am as a business owner. So what will I be doing this winter besides taking vacations?! jk! Well first I do have a bunch of winter weddings coming up! After that the plan is to continue learning new things and pushing the envelope of wedding photography. Look for many new and exciting images next year! Also I promise to start writing again with my blog posts! Hi Amanda :) It's something that I really enjoyed but for some reason got away from. It's coming back I promise! Speaking of the blog! What do you think about the new design? Special thanks to the wonderful Madeline Miller for all of her hard work! I can't thank you all enough for all of the wonderful compliments given! I am thrilled with all of the friendships I've made in 2010 and I am excited about all of the wonderful friendships to come in 2011. So as the clock strikes midnight tomorrow night be sure to celebrate in style! What will I be doing?

SHOOTING A WEDDING OF COURSE :) Can't wait!

Ever since I met Amanda & Joe last year I have been looking forward to their wedding day! I'll never forget shooting their engagement pictures either because it was one of my favorite sessions to date! The WONDERFUL couple got married on the HOTTEST day of 2010 at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, MA. This of course happens to be one of my favorite golf courses to play in Massachusetts. Do I arrive early, play nine holes and show up at the wedding all sweaty and disgusting? Maybe not! :P Amanda had done a bunch of DIY wedding projects which really paid off as everything was beautiful and perfectly themed together. The ceremony was done indoors by a friend which I always like because it ends up being really fun and emotional at the same time! My wife is probably laughing at me now once she reads this! After the ceremony we headed outdoors to shoot some formals along with some really great intimate shots of the bride and groom alone. We also shot from sunset pictures just after dinner before getting the party started! The reception was very fun and everyone seemed to be having a blast! Amanda & Joe even set up a DIY photo booth which really got a lot of use and ended up being great for me since I was able to capture some very fun candid photographs. To be honest with you I'm bummed that their wedding is over with but I guess I'll still have to bug them from time to time on Facebook! I'm very happy for the both of them and their families! I cannot wait for them to return home from their honeymoon as their pictures are already completed! Enjoy...
